B is for Burrrrr

Baby, it's cold outside!  What a crazy past few days it has been.  Tuesday morning we woke to 6 inches of snow covering a sheet of ice.  Schools were canceled in all of the Big Country.  Jathan and I stayed home together and Russell made the trek into work.  Russell and Jathan bundled up and went to play in the snow, but after literally 3 minutes or so Jathan decided he had had enough.  I don't blame him - it was COLD!

Today brought temperatures in the single digits - yes, the SINGLE digits - with windchills well below zero.  I think it was the coldest I've ever experienced.  Burr!  Schools were closed again today and the road conditions were terrible.  Any snow that did melt yesterday, refroze overnight and the roads were/are thick sheets of ice.  I made it into work (after driving 9 miles per hour the whole way) to find that the power was out!  Apparently, there were rolling blackouts being enforced throughout the state of Texas due to overconsumption of energy as a result of the crazy cold conditions.  Russell and Jathan stayed home together and enjoyed a movie day.  Schools are slated for closure again tomorrow - this is the first I've ever heard of local schools closing 3 consecutive days due to weather related issues.  This is so weird!
