So...I've been keeping a big secret and it's killing me! I can't hold it in any longer! We're having a baby!! Jathan is going to be a big brother! We are beyond excited. When we told Jathan there was a baby growing in Mommy's tummy he laughed hysterically and said "No der's not!! That silly!" :-) I love him and pray this process will be a smooth transition for him.
For no apparent reason, I decided on Monday, May 23rd that I should take a pregnancy test. I had no symptoms whatsoever to make me think I was pregnant, but I just had this notion in my head that I was. I took the test and sat it on the counter. With Jathan, the pregnancy test indicated positive immediately, so when this one didn't show anything immediately, I put the test in the drawer and went about my day. About 15 minutes later, I opened the drawer to get something and glanced at the test. I closed the door and then opened it again. I swore I saw a very faint line. In fact, the line was so faint and "inconclusive" that when I showed it to Russell and asked him what it said he said "not pregnant." I replied with "Are you sure?! I think there's a line there." He squinted, turned his head to the side and held it to the light and finally said "Well, maybe so." I waited a couple of days and took another -- this time the result was a little more believable. So, for all those reading, yes, I did keep a secret from you for almost 7 weeks! I know, I can't believe it either.
The no symptoms part didn't last long. I have been ridiculously exhausted lately -- more so than I was when I was pregnant with Jathan. In fact, I'm pretty sure there is a permanent indention on the couch from where I've camped out and napped every.single.day. The last several weeks have been full of the beloved morning sickness and all day nausea. In fact, the only food I've been able to eat without gagging at some point during the meal is Starbursts and baked potatoes. Sounds healthy huh? I do have to say though this time the nausea has been a little more managable than with Jathan. I haven't once had to turn around and go home on the way to work to change clothes after barfing on myself in traffic! What a feat!
Our first doctor's appointment was July 7th. This appointment confirmed the pregnancy and the due date of February 4, 2012. We got to see Baby #2 and as well as see and hear a very strong heartbeat-- what a sweet sweet sight and so amazing. How blessed we are!
Stay tuned to the blog for updates as we start a new journey!
