So I had this post written and saved in draft format and never published it....so here it is. Better late than never.
Traveling back and forth to Dallas the last couple of days we saw some of the most gorgeous bluebonnet patches on the sides of the highway -- some areas completely covered by a sea of blue....bonnets. I couldn't remember the last time I saw something so beautiful....which kind of startled me. Things have been so hectic the last few months, I haven't taken the time to stop and smell the....ahhhh too cliche...but you know where I'm going. :-) These simple little flowers reminded me of exactly how blessed I am.... the drive brought about much reflection and I was humbled by how much MY GOD LOVES ME!
The bluebonnets also reminded of two of the most wonderful people in the world - my Nanny and Papaw. I don't remember this always being the case, but in the last few years they were on this Earth, I distinctly remember a patch of bluebonnets to the right of their driveway next to a cotton field. In the years after Papaw's passing, I remember Nanny planting bluebonnets at his grave site and tending to them so diligently and lovingly. I'm not sure what, if anything, the bluebonnets represented, but now, to me, they represent true love. What a blessing to grow up with two wonderful sets of grandparents -- both sets celebrating over 50 years of marriage! What an example they've been!!
Thank you, God, for bluebonnets!

I went to your blog today to see if anything new had been posted and I had not seen this bluebonnets post! So funny that the bluebonnets remind you of Nanny and Papaw because I have thought the same thing! I too remember those outside her driveway and then of course on Papaw's grave. We were blessed with four amazing grandparents and I am so thankful we were able to enjoy lots of good times with both sets!
