Bliss /blɪs/ - noun
supreme happiness; utter joy or contentment
Four years ago today, I married my best friend. *sniffle*
I look back on that day and remember how excited we were to finally be husband and wife. In fact, I vaugely remember having this naive notion that we'd ride off into the sunset and everything from that point forward would be like a fairytale (figuratively speaking)...they do call it wedded bliss for a reason, right??
Well....sort of.
While it hasn't necessarily been the picture perfect fairytale per se -- it's been real and it's been an adventure....and really, what more could you ask for in life?
Yes, there've been trials - medical scares & emergencies, the death of multiple loved ones, and most recently, the loss of a job - but there've also been some amazing triumphs - the purchase of our first home and the birth of our first child (just to name some of the more emotional events).
Good or bad, happy or sad -- our years so far of "wedded bliss" have done nothing but make us appreciate the life we have together more and more. We challenge each other. But more importantly, when we're challenged by life, we face it and experience it together. I can’t imagine a better person with whom to face and share all of my life’s experiences.
I am happy. I am blissful. I am blessed.
