I have found that I LOVE to bake cookie cutter sugar cookies from scratch and decorate them with homemade frosting/icing. I’ve found and tweaked a wonderful recipe that we all love…which leads to the not-so-healthy part of this new hobby….eating them. Well wait..there is some nutritional value in cookies, right?! Eeekkk!
It all started shortly before Christmas when I signed up to bring cookies to Jathan’s daycare Christmas party. For whatever reason, I was determined that I would NOT buy store bought packaged cookies. I made a trial run batch of Christmas tree and candy cane shaped cookies to practice on and they turned out great! I was hooked! It was so fun; they looked and tasted great; and I barely got frustrated during the whole process (and for those who know me well, know that I get frustrated when I have my mind set to do something like this and it doesn’t turn out just perfectly like I imagined)! What more could you ask for?!
I bought a cute set of Valentine cookie cutters and was anxious to use them, so on Monday night I baked heart shaped cookies of all sizes. We turned it in to a family fun night and all sat at the kitchen table decorating them together. Jathan really enjoyed shaking sprinkles on his cookie and swiping a finger full of icing in between shakes!
Here are some snaps of Jathan decorating his cookie, his finished product, and him enjoying the fruits of his labor.
So you are new to this "blog" thing and so am I! I posted a comment on the wrong day! Anyways..cute pictures and cute cookies JBO!
